When introducing partial-panel, the most effective first step is:

• AFail everything at once in IMC on the first lesson
• BExplain the pitot-static / gyro relationships on the ground, then fail one instrument at a time in VMC under the hood, then combine
• COnly use a sim, never the airplane
• DStart with an approach to minimums
